Here are my personal highlights of 2025 ๐ ๐ฌ๐ ๐ฎ๐ท๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ ๐บ๐ ๐ฃ๐ต๐ I published my first PhD paper on a gradient boosting calibration approach for an instrumented cycling pedal, showing strong accuracy improvements. Co-authors: Wolfgang Potthast and Dr. Josef Viellehner ๐https://lnkd.in/ehY4-bny I completed the ArthoCycling project on knee joint loading in patients with knee osteoarthritis during cycling, walking, and running. The study included 56 patients and controls using motion capture, kinetics, EMG, questionnaires, and strength testing. Many thanks to Wolfgang Potthast, W. Brent Edwards, and the research team: Lasse Hansen, Nina Nรคckel, Katharina Ammann, Shakiba Asadi Melerdi, Hove Gripp, Kolja Wollenhaupt. Several papers are emerging: one under review, one written. ๐ค๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ At the Footwear Biomechanics Group Symposium at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH), I presented work on heel construction effects on tibialis anterior activity and anticipatory neuromuscular control ๐https://lnkd.in/ekDiYXHi At the International Society of Biomechanics conference in Stockholm, I contributed two talks on knee joint loading in cycling, cumulative loading models, and anatomical and sex-related effects. One abstract was written by Nina Nรคckel (her first conference abstract!). ๐https://lnkd.in/eFHh5c7Z ๐https://lnkd.in/e4xkcuus โ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต I joined a new working group at FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences and participated in the 88th European Space Agency - ESA parabolic flight campaign, performing biomechanical measurements onboard the Novespace Zero-G aircraft under lunar gravity. Many thanks to the PIs Prof. Dr. Kirsten Albracht, Ramona Prof Dr. Ritzmann, Dr. Bjoern Braunstein, Prof. Dr. Albert Gollhofer, and the research team: Fabian Gรถll, Dana Hartmann, Renรฉ Lingscheid, Verena Schรผngel, Katrin Simioni. ๐https://lnkd.in/eDQ72PUe ๐๐ง๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด I taught basic Biomechanics for Bachelors and Masters at Deutsche Sporthochschule Kรถln and IST-Hochschule fรผr Management, and gave an invited Christmas lecture at the Universitรคt zu Kรถln together with Lasse Hansen and Matthias Thelen. ๐๐๐ป๐ฑ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ Alongside academia, I expanded my data analytics skills at Smartfit - Find Your Size, leading a project that resulted in an automated customer reporting system using real-world cycling industry data.
