Cool ideas mean nothing if the math doesn't work. More than a decade ago, I spent weeks building wooden lockers in my garage and placed them in apartment buildings for dry cleaning pickup. People loved the convenience, but I very quickly learned this was a volume game. You'd need hundreds and hundreds of these things to make the economics make sense. I had maybe 5 lockers and was running around Calgary like a one-man laundry service. That's when I realized there's a big difference between a cool idea and a scalable business model.
