The key points from my interview with GSMA - Internet of Things at the recent MWC: 1. Most Smart Manufacturing technologies require secure, high speed, high bandwidth wireless networks 2. Most OT networks are not fit for purpose 3. A single Smart Factory use case will struggle to justify the investment in a 5G network The solution for manufacturers and the solution providers is as follows: 1. The manufacturer needs to identify all of the Smart Manufacturing use cases that will deliver value for their organisation 2. With that information they then need to identify the network solution that can support those use cases and the associated investment 3. The result will be a holistic strategic roadmap that will involve multiple internal and external stakeholders. That sounds easy but as we all know, it isn't. I have a solution for that...
