Sam’s Choice was one of Walmart’s original private label programs launched in the early 90’s if memory serves. I remember Sam talking in the Saturday morning meeting about Loblaws in Canada and their “President’s Choice” label. Sam was known for borrowing good ideas and trying to improve on them. Not long after, Sam’s Choice was launched and introduced to the stores for the first time at the Year Beginning Meeting. In celebration, all managers were issued a Sam’s Choice, Cola letter jacket.
