Engineering Leadership for Execution Excellence! John Cockerill India recently wrapped up a two-day Engineering Leadership Development Program for 32 engineers and designers, facilitated by Prof. Abhijit Chaudhuri from SDA Bocconi Asia Center. The goal was specific: build leadership capabilities that translate engineering expertise into safer, faster, and better project delivery. This wasn't a generic training program. Before the workshop, each participant completed a calibration exercise that surfaced their real challenges across five priorities: Safety by Design, Innovation, Cost Ownership, On-Time Delivery, and Right First Time Quality. That input shaped every case study and simulation that followed. Participants worked in cross-disciplinary cohorts, applying A3 Problem Solving and 5-Why Analysis to actual project situations. Each person left with an action plan targeting concrete improvement: less rework, better schedule adherence, tighter cost control, and stronger safety thinking at the design stage. The point was simple.
