Delighted that the Austrian think tank Marie Jahoda - Otto Bauer Institut published my article on the power of community economic transformation in their Perspectiven Magazine. It is a synthesis of all we have learned via Eisenhower Institute at Gettysburg College, The Brookings Institution and with our partners in the #Heartlands Transformation Network around effective community and regional economic transformation. Originally presented to the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions & Cities conference in Trento, Italy last summer, the highlights include: - Any community can economically rebuild after loss of historic employers - But they do so by building on their own unique assets, blowing life into their own locally-led vision for regeneration - And when successful, it really does take the steam out of dangerous anti-democratic populist and nationalist movements.
