In China, the "little blue light" (ADS indicator) is a voluntary safety feature adopted by brands like Li Auto, BYD, XPeng, NIO, and AITO to signal that assisted driving (typically L2 level) is active, alerting other road users. While a 2021 draft regulation proposed mandating it for L3 vehicles, the final 2024 national standard dropped that requirement, so it remains non-compulsory. Crucially, the blue light does not mean self-driving: the driver stays fully responsible and must remain ready to take over at all times.
