#Schoggijob - sharing joy along the value chain There is a word which only exists in the Swiss language: it is "Schoggijob". "To have a Schoggijob" means something like "being on the sunny side of life". Why this introduction? - Well, Läderach's purpose is "sharing joy by making chocolate fresh" and this week my team and I had the privilege of doing just that. We flew in all the 55 store managers of the North American stores to CostaRica to meet about as many farmers from the Trobanex cooperation. We exchanged cocoa fruit with Swiss chocolates, learned about each others worlds and reflected on the notion that "there is no joy in possession without sharing" (Erasmus von Rotterdam). Our cocoa farmers are rightfully proud of their beans, but the joy does not come from keeping them, but from sharing them with us. We in Switzerland add some milk, some sugar and lots of love and bring the chocolate back to the stores around the world. There our consumers buy them and get joy from indulging in them - but at least as much joy from sharing the chocolates with family and friends. So in chocolate as in life, the joy does not come from keeping things, but from sharing them :-). What a joy to bring together all of these diverse and precious actors along the value chain.
