I'm excited to share the release of Together We Thrive: A Guide to Community Visioning for Community Land Trusts as a Response to Climate Risk and Displacement, developed by the Climigration Network in partnership with the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. As climate impacts intensify, conversations about adaptation often become conversations about finance: What can be funded? What can be insured? What can be built? But this work is a reminder that adaptation is about much more than capital flows and infrastructure investments. It is about belonging, identity, self-determination, and who has the power to shape the future of the places and the foundations of home. Community land trusts offer one pathway for communities to navigate climate risk while centering affordability, cultural continuity, and collective decision-making. Whether communities choose to stay, adapt in place, or relocate, the process matters. The question is not simply how we move money, but how we move through change without leaving people behind. I'm grateful to have contributed to this work and continually inspired by the leadership of frontline communities that have long been navigating these questions with creativity, care, and courage. I hope this resource is useful to practitioners, policymakers, funders, and community leaders working at the intersection of climate adaptation, housing, and justice.  The guide includes case studies of successful CLTs across the country, including the Lahaina Community Land Trust, Sogorea Te’ Land Trust, Houston Community Land Trust, Dishgamu Humboldt CLT, Champlain Housing Trust, and others. Each chapter includes guiding questions for communities to consider, ranging from practical aspects of CLTs—like governance, funding, and site selection—to reflective inquiries about the kinds of decisions communities make, how they make them, and how best to balance safety, affordability, and equity.
