On behalf of the Regional Water Authority of Rijnland, Rogier van der Sande welcomed a delegation of state lawmakers from flood-affected states, primarily from Midwestern states of America and the American Flood Coalition. Sanne Wesseling guided the delegation to the boulevard in Katwijk, where they took a closer look at the coastal reinforcement project. Although this project was completed several years ago, it remains a remarkable and inspiring example of how collaboration among various stakeholders can create significant value. The underground parking garage particularly captured the imagination of our American guests, showcasing innovative solutions to urban planning and environmental challenges. This visit not only highlighted the importance of sustainable coastal management and flood prevention but also fostered international dialogue and exchange of knowledge.
