It was an exciting week for the Traverse City Pit Spitters! Two former Pit Spitters were selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft, with Vahn Lackey going third overall to the Minnesota Twins! This ties Vahn as the highest draft pick to have ever spent a summer in The Northwoods League. In total 11 former Pit Spitters have made the jump to professional ball players in this years draft. That's some talent! When we started our Traverse City baseball journey back in 2019 one of my biggest concerns about summer collegiate baseball was the level of play. Was it going to be good enough? Seven years in, and two Championships later, we can confidently say talent is not an issue.
