🚇 Hagerbach Underground Tunnel Switzerland We had the chance to visit this incredible facility in Switzerland, and it’s far more than just a tunnel. Hagerbach is a full-scale underground lab where real-world testing meets futuristic ideas. From fire safety and BIM digitalisation to robotic inspections and even underground farming (yes, lettuce!), it’s a playground for engineers and visionaries. What impressed us most? ✅ The scale and realism — walking through a 5-meter diameter tunnel is humbling, and stepping into a 15-meter high cavern made us feel truly small. Everything is tested under the anticipated construction environment. ✅ The diversity — not just excavation, but smart construction, space habitat simulations, and underground data centers. ✅ The purpose — it’s a true research and development hub for underground infrastructure and future use of underground spaces. It’s a place that challenges how we think about infrastructure — not just above ground, but beneath it.
