#NEWS: Government funds new first-line treatment for multiple myeloma.    The immunotherapy DARZALEX® (daratumumab) is now available through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) as initial treatment for Australians with multiple myeloma who are not eligible for stem cell transplantation. It will be used in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone (DRd).   DARZALEX is the first new type of medicine to be listed on the PBS for these patients in more than a decade.   Multiple myeloma is a form of blood cancer that affects plasma cells found in the bone marrow.     All medicines may have side effects. The most common side effects of DARZALEX include chills, sore throat, cough, nausea, vomiting, itchy, runny or blocked nose, shortness of breath or other breathing problems. Please refer to the DARZALEX Consumer Medicine Information for further information on side effects, contraindications, precautions and warnings: http://tiny.cc/b64r001   Myeloma Australia #MultipleMyeloma #MedicinesAccess #StrongerPBS
