🎥 A cosmic signal, an Earth-sized telescope, and three astronomers interviewing each other. 🎤 What is a fast radio burst? Why do repeating FRBs matter? And how can we trace them back to their origin? ⚡ Earlier this year, you may have seen the headline: astronomers pinpointed a repeating fast radio burst — only the fourth ever linked to a persistent radio source. In this video, three of the authors — from the Anton Pannekoek Institute (University of Amsterdam), ASTRON, and JIVE — take turns asking each other questions about the result and how it was obtained using telescopes from the European VLBI Network (EVN), spread across the globe. JIVE combined their signals to form an Earth-sized telescope.
