I’m still reflecting on the incredible insights from the last 3 weeks of Elevate! There are far too many learnings to recap in a post, so here are my top 5 quotes from these sessions: JP Elliott, PhD - “People make decisions for their reasons, not yours.”  It’s critical to influence intentionally through earning trust, engineering influence and elevating impact. Vicky Zhao - “Rephrase ‘why’ questions as ‘what’ or ‘how' questions.”  Why questions evoke defense answers whereas what/how often leads to more productive answers. Dave Ulrich - ”HR is not about HR, but creating value for others.” It’s critical to understand the business environment, market trends and external realities to truly drive value for our stakeholders. Ginger King - “Get comfortable getting uncomfortable” Working with ambiguity often drives the greatest growth opportunities.    Peter Block - “Stop giving advice and start being useful.” Advice is giving people answers. What business leaders really need is someone to challenge their assumptions and anticipate needs to drive value for the business. I appreciate all of the speakers who shared their wisdom and insights with the group! JP Elliott, PhD - THANK YOU for putting together such a well-designed agenda.  The topics were on point and critical for today’s HR leaders.  You did an amazing job facilitating the conversations and fireside chat.  And, I think we all appreciated the small moments of fun that only live streams can provide (your dog was my favorite!) It was an amazing experience!
