Looking at the proposed site design for Water Meadow View, it’s clear how much thought has gone into designing a space that really supports the well-being of people with learning disabilities. The nature walk and therapy garden, are key to this, showing a clear understanding how a connection with nature can make a huge difference to those spending time here. The design overall has embraced innovation with sensory design elements and a non-institutional feel - which will aid an effective #pbs model of care. It’s a great example of how the right design can make a big difference in recovery and community integration - while also aiming high for #sustainability targets. I look forward to seeing the site complete. 14 adaptable living spaces will no doubt be filled quickly with those currently inappropriately placed or out of area. But as Phase One of a proposed £200 million investment, it will hopefully be quickly followed by other sites. Congratulations on the shortlist for the Healthcare Design Awards Gilling Dod Architects and Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust . #LearningDisabilities #LancashireCare #Innovation
