https://lnkd.in/eT4Xyih5 This Tuesday, November 11th, at 6:30pm — join us live on Wayout TV for this year’s Longford Lecture. This year's Longford Lecturer is given by Dame Rachel de Souza, the Children’s Commissioner for England. Her talk —“Guilty Until Proven Innocent: Every Child’s Right to Freedom, Fairness, and Opportunity” — explores how we can build a system that gives every young person a fair chance, no matter their past. The lecture takes place at Church House, Westminster, and is attended by those who really care about prisoner's education and prospects. Dame Rachel was appointed the Children’s Commissioner in 2021 and represents children’s needs across Government – including those of young offenders and care leavers up to the age of 25. The Longford Trust is a UK charity dedicated to the rehabilitation of prisoners and ex-offenders, primarily through education. Its main activity is offering scholarships to young serving and ex-prisoners, providing financial aid, one-to-one mentoring, and employability support so they can study for university degrees. The trust also promotes the cause of prison reform by arranging an annual lecture and awarding a prize for outstanding achievement in the field. #WayoutTV will be streaming this event from 18:30 on Tuesday across our national network of prisons.
