Dr. Horvath tracked 80 countries. Every one saw scores drop. My daughter just turned 11. She got a big girl phone anyway. AI is not going anywhere, and neither are screens. The question was never yes or no. It was in what order. So in our house, access comes one step at a time. Save this before you hand over the next phone. Here's the order in our house before any screen turns on: 1. Screen time starts after getting dressed, not before. → Build the same non-negotiable order in your house. 2. Devotions come before any phone touches a hand. → Ask what grounds your kid before the algorithm does. 3. Thirty minutes of movement earns the next step. → Trade twenty minutes of screen for twenty outside. 4. Academics come before the game, every time. → Name which app is actually teaching something. 5. A clean room comes before the screen turns on. → Notice what habits you're willing to trade for peace. She just turned 11. We gave her a phone. Duolingo, her exercise app, one game with friends. Five steps come first. Every time. Dressed. Devotions. Movement. Academics. Room clean. Then, and only then, the phone. This month, her first church youth group. Middle school is right around the corner. Earlier this year, I taught my dad and mom AI. He moves faster through proposals. She plans trips and recipes. AI is not the enemy. Surrendering the order is. When you hand over the phone just for five quiet minutes. That's exhaustion. It happens to every parent. Build the routine. That's the order, before the next binge. ♻️ Repost for the parent who hands over the phone first, not last. ➕ Follow Dr. Jessica E. Samuels, ACC to raise kids who use AI, not lose to it.
