Final Year Sociology BA Student at the University of Warwick
Year 3, Term 1 highlights! As the New Year fast approaches, I thought I'd reflect on what I've been up to this term, alongside my Sociology degree at the University of Warwick💫 📚 Career Seekers Direct Work Placement This term, I completed a 10-week work placement with Career Seekers Direct Limited. My role consisted of researching into what support is available to help those with additional needs access employment (both nationally and internationally). I finished the placement by presenting my findings and recommendations to the organisation. It was such a valuable experience and thank you to Eva Harrison RCDP,MCDI, Charlotte Rainbow, Teresa JT Pinheiro and Ulf Liebe for all their support. 🗺️ EUTOPIA Day conference I was invited to speak at the University of Warwick's EUTOPIA day conference in November, on the theme of ‘inclusion’. I reflected on the group project that I completed as part of IATL Warwick's ‘Global Connections (EUTOPIA)’ module last year. Thank you so much to Heather Meyer and Dr Mélina Delmas for this opportunity! It was also really insightful hearing from Stephen Soanes, Lewis Beer and Dr. Philip Anyanwu on the many EUTOPIA opportunities we have here at Warwick. 🎤 President of Warwick A Cappella Society This has been a very busy term for Warwick A Cappella Society, with our most successful Welcome Week and audition turn out yet! In one year, we have gone from having 3 a cappella groups in the society, to having 7 - ranging from competitive, beatbox, barbershop, to a new non-auditioned group. It was a pleasure organising for our groups to perform at Warwick Castle's Christmas Lights Trail and Kenilworth Castle. ✍ Articles for The Boar Newspaper This term, I tried something new, and wrote my first articles for The Boar student newspaper. I had the incredible opportunity to interview singer songwriter Sofia Camara before her EP release and first UK headline tour, and then interviewed the production team behind Opera Warwick’s upcoming show ‘Candide.’ 💜 I am excited to announce that I have recently been selected as a University of Warwick Student Ambassador, and have also been working with Unifrog this term to film promotional content for both the Sociology department and Linguistics department. I am looking forward to my penultimate term at university, where I will be competing in the ICCAs with my a cappella group ‘The Leamingtones’, working on my Warwick Sociology dissertation, and much more! Here's to 2026! 🌟
