In a historic breakthrough for global medicine, a Chinese doctor remotely performed a robot-assisted heart surgery on a patient located more than 10,000 km away. From Bordeaux, France, Professor Wang Yan, president of the Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital, remotely controlled China’s self-developed surgical robot to perform a transcatheter mitral valve repair (TEER) on a patient in Xiamen, China. The procedure completed in just one hour achieved near-perfect results with almost zero mitral regurgitation. The patient has since fully recovered. This operation marks the world’s first cross-border, robot-assisted heart intervention, made possible through collaboration between Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital, Shanghai Shujike Medical Technology, and the CHU de Bordeaux, with guidance from Professors lionel leroux and thomas modine... #robotics #surgery #innovation #telemedicine #healthtech #AI #China #France #medicaltechnology #TAG
