A significant milestone on the road to the launch of the Busia Technology & Innovation Summit Yesterday, Jenga Afrihub, the convener of the summit together with the summit Secretariat, held its first official strategic engagement with the Busia County Department of ICT & Strategic Partnerships as preparations for the Summit continue to gather momentum. The meeting brought together the Chief Officer for ICT & Strategic Partnerships, the Deputy Director of ICT & Strategic Partnerships, the Director of Human Resource, the Director of Resource Mobilization, and the Department’s Accountant. It provided an opportunity to present the Summit concept, align our shared vision, and lay the foundation for close collaboration in delivering a transformative technology and innovation summit for Busia County. The engagement was followed by a meeting with H.E. the Governor Paul Otuoma , who expressed strong support for the initiative while emphasizing the importance of building on existing ICT and digital transformation investments. Referencing initiatives such as the UK-funded Digital Access Programme, he challenged us to ensure the Summit creates practical pathways that connect digital skills to innovation, entrepreneurship, business growth, and meaningful employment for young people. His message was clear: the Summit should build on what has already been achieved, respond to existing gaps, and unlock new opportunities for Busia’s digital economy. As the convener of the Summit, we are happy to be working alongside the Busia Technology & Innovation Summit Secretariat, the County Government of Busia, development partners, the private sector, academia, innovators, entrepreneurs, and youth to deliver a platform that will shape Busia’s digital future. This marks an important step on the road to the official launch, and we look forward to sharing more as the journey continues.
