Jemena’s Eastern Gas Pipeline has been celebrating 25 years since it was commissioned - and to mark the occasion the pipeline has scored a nice feature in the latest edition of The Australian Pipeliner magazine. Take a trip down memory lane, all the way back to the year 2000, as the team reflect on the challenges associated with building the pipeline across remote landscapes, all before smart phones were invented! Did you know the EGP was commissioned in time for the 2000 Sydney Olympics? Meaning gas transported via the EGP was used to light the Olympic flame! While we’re sharing factoids, you may also not know that the EGP has at times supplied more than 75 per cent of gas used across New South Wales. Facts aside, it’s the people who have made the EGP the success it is today – running the pipeline safely for the last quarter century. Pictured here are Martin Richards and Lexie Eady who are part of the current team who work on the EGP, and hear from those who were there right back at the start check out the full Pipeliner story (link available in the comments below).
