Today we lost Charlie Dalin, winner of the Vendée Globe, the most difficult sailing race in the world, at just 42 years old. What few knew while he was sailing: Charlie crossed the finish line in record time while carrying a tumor in his stomach. Alone at sea for 64 days, fighting the ocean and an illness he had told almost no one about. He just demonstrated his strength as a human being. It's a reminder that life is the most important thing we have. We build extraordinary things, technology, AI, machines that grow more capable every day and yes, I deeply wish AI could cure cancer one day. But in the end, it is always the human being who makes the difference. Courage, will, and heart cannot be engineered. Wherever you are, Charlie, may the winds be with you.
