"Mais enfin pourquoi voulez-vous qu’à 47 ans je commence une carrière de senior banker ?" (pour paraphraser le grand Charles) Et pourtant ce sera le cas dès lundi ! Merci à Mizuho Bank Europe et en particulier à James Hagger et Pascal Bardon de me donner cette formidable opportunité. Merci à tous les investisseurs, fellow sales (de Chris MacMillan, Nath Watine à Ekrem Celik en passant par ces 12 années dans la salle de BBVA : Nath Rouault, Sid, Ben, Sarah, Phil^2, Greg, Raph, Leo, Thomas, Steph, Johnny...), traders (Aristo tu te reconnaîtras), syndicateurs (« failure is not an option »), DCM (Alexandra Bergmann, Alex Macho, Leo Mc Call, Cédric Galinier…), senior bankers (Greg Abidhoussen, Thierry Lopez, Alex Deschatres…), Recherche (Franck ! Agustin !), back-office, middle-office, custodian, IT, compliance officers, juristes, top managers & fournisseurs de sushis à emporter qui m’ont accompagné, aidé, voire choyé chez Crédit Lyonnais (hello Boomer), Calyon, CA CIB, BBVA & Mizuho Securities puis Mizuho Bank Europe en tant que vendeur crédit. En salle des marchés comme ailleurs, « la vieillesse est un naufrage ». Nouveau défi donc ! Merci d’avance à tous les fellow senior bankers, stakeholders, C-suite et tous les titulaires de postes que je ne connais pas encore de m’accueillir. J’espère pouvoir vous dire à chaque fin de réunion : « je vous ai compris ». Pour les fournisseurs de sushis, je suis toujours là. Parfois ce sera sur-place. ----- “But honestly, why would I start a senior banker career at 47?” (To paraphrase Charles De Gaulle – tougher to do in the English version) And yet… that’s exactly what’s about to happen next Monday! Many thanks to Mizuho Bank Europe and especially to James Hagger and Pascal Bardon for giving me this amazing opportunity. Thank you to all the investors, fellow sales colleagues (you’ll recognise yourselves — especially Ekrem Celik, Chirs MacMillan, Nath Watine, and the great years at BBVA : Nath Rouault, Sid, Ben, Sarah, Phil^2, Greg, Raph, Leo, Thomas, Steph, Johnny...), traders (Aristo, you know who you are), syndicate teams (“failure is not an option”), DCM colleagues (Alexandra Bergmann, Alex Macho, Leo Mc Call, Cédric Galinier…), senior bankers (Greg Abidhoussen, Thierry Lopez, Alex Deschatres…), research, back‑office, middle‑office, custodians, IT, compliance officers, legal teams, top managers and all the sushi suppliers who have supported, helped and spoiled me over the years at Crédit Lyonnais (hello Boomer), Calyon, CA CIB, BBVA & Mizuho Securities and now Mizuho Bank Europe, during my time as a credit salesperson. On a trading floor as elsewhere, “old age is a shipwreck”. A new challenge begins! My thanks in advance to all the fellow senior bankers, stakeholders, C‑suite members and everyone I haven’t met yet for welcoming me. I hope that at the end of each meeting I’ll be able to say: “I have understood you.” And to the sushis suppliers, I am still here. But sometimes, it will even be dine‑in.
