A reflection on my journey with the Canadian Red Cross. As many of you know, my last day at the Canadian Red Cross was this week. Over a third of my life has been dedicated to leading amazing teams through some of the world’s most challenging crises with the CRC. From fighting cholera in Somaliland and supporting refugees in Bangladesh to managing response to Ebola outbreaks and disasters like Cyclone Idai and Hurricanes Eta and Iota, I’ve been privileged to witness the power of collective action. This post highlights some key moments, including our COVID-19 response in Quebec and recent ERU deployments to Gaza and Canada’s wildfire-affected regions, where we’ve supported over 3.1 million people in more than 10 countries.
