Javier Rodriguez Soler, BBVA’s Global Head of Sustainability and Corporate & Investment Banking, has been included in the inaugural list of the “50 Most Innovative People in Finance,” compiled by American Banker. The ranking recognizes the executive’s role—he is the only Spaniard on the list—in accelerating the bank’s transformation and innovation agenda. Published for the first time in 2026, the ranking highlights leaders across the global financial sector who are redefining financial services through leadership in transformation, customer experience, artificial intelligence (AI), operational modernization, data analytics, and emerging technologies. The recognition comes at a time when BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking is intensifying the adoption of AI capabilities across the organization and strengthening the development of digital solutions for corporate and institutional clients. American Banker highlights initiatives such as the rollout of generative AI tools—including ChatGPT Enterprise and Gemini, available to all employees across the group—the development of AI-based solutions for banking and risk teams, and the continuous enhancement of digital platforms supporting transaction banking, global markets, and sustainable finance. “It is an honor to be part of this inaugural list alongside leaders who are helping shape the future of finance,” said Rodríguez Soler, who believes that the next stage of banking will be defined by institutions capable of combining innovation, expertise, and trust to create lasting value for their clients.
