Last month, on Monday, June 1, I successfully defended my PhD thesis, "𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗥𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀". Looking back, it was a wonderful day. We started the morning with the first-ever 𝗣𝗜-𝗖𝗔𝗜 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺, bringing together experts from radiology, urology, epidemiology, and industry to discuss the current state of evidence, define priorities for future research, and explore how AI can be integrated into clinical workflows for prostate cancer detection on MRI. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss future research directions, and strengthen collaborations. In the afternoon, Anindo Saha and I defended our PhD theses, presenting the research we conducted over the past five years in this field. It was a memorable moment after years of hard work. Thank you to my supervisory team, Jurgen Fütterer, Henkjan Huisman, and Maarten de Rooij, for their guidance and mentorship throughout my PhD. A special thank you also to my paranymphs, Anindo Saha and Joeran Bosma, the committee, and to all the colleagues, collaborators, friends, and family who joined us on this day.
