Where Nature Becomes the Classroom. 🏫 In Ogatsu, Miyagi Prefecture, the century-old Kuwahama Elementary School that closed in 2002 was reborn in 2015 as MORIUMIUS, a facility established as part of the region’s recovery following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake where children learn to live in harmony with nature. 📕 Here, MORIUMIUS itself becomes the classroom: Children learn from the forests, the sea, the village, and its people—experiencing the natural cycle of growing, using and returning. 🌿 This is based on regeneration, an idea that goes beyond sustainability. Food scraps become animal feed or compost, and wastewater circulates naturally to help plants grow. Today, MORIUMIUS welcomes people from around the world, passing on local wisdom and the power of nature to the next generation.✨
