ABHORRENT BEHAVIOR AT Standard Chartered Bank , Z Block Lahore: I recently changed jobs and joined a new organization, SC is one of the 3 banks they are affiliated with. I decided to activate an existing salary account that had become dormant. On my first visit to the Z block branch when I went in with my offer letter, I was asked to return with my appointment letter (AL). Once I had that after joining, I went to the branch again where after waiting for 20 minutes, I was told to return the next day as the biometric machine was broken. I obliged visiting on Nov 6 which was my 3rd visit. The following discriminatory exchanges happened: 1. I was told that I needed to bring in a related man to reactivate an existing account which is dormant. When asked why, since I brought the AL and was earning enough, I was told it was safer for the bank if I was a man's dependent since as a woman my job was unstable. 2. My AL on the company Letterhead was perceived to be fake since I was young, a woman, and the salary was high. They wanted me to get a hard copy certificate mailed from my org. I have now closed my account at this disorganized and unprofessional bank.
