A positive rejection — and a vision that resonated a little too well. 😉 After extensive deliberation — and despite initial enthusiasm — the Municipality of Ouder-Amstel has decided ('for now'), not to proceed with our proposed development just south of Amsterdam. The reason? Our concept — blending nature-based recreation, hospitality, community focus, and a sculpture park — proved to be a powerful draw for tourism. Powerful enough, in fact, to raise concerns about attracting too many visitors from beyond the region. The advice at this stage: keep things small-scale to avoid turning the area into a national or international destination. Of course, it's a pity not to move forward right now. But we respect the decision — and take it as a compliment to the strength of the proposal. Other options will be explored. Huge thanks to Ingomar Klaui owner of the current pavilion a/d PLAS, for the warm and constructive collaboration. And sincere gratitude to the team behind the proposal — partners with whom we’ll continue this journey: 🔹 Universe Architecture – Architecture & Development 🔹 D-Shape – 3D Rock Printing 🔹 Peter Heykamp buro van Ons – Strategy 🔹 Rinus Roelofs – 3D Modeling 🔹 Vitra – Interior 🔹 Deerns – Building Physics 🔹 Pieters Bouwtechniek BV – Constructor 🔹 EeStairs – Stairs 🔹 Glasdesignnl – Facade 🔹 Jansen Group - Profiles On to the next chapter. #architecture #urbanstrategy #design #publicspace #3Dprinting #sustainabledesign #vision #collaboration #teamwork #nextchapter
