After 3 productive and enjoyable years as Managing Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), I will be taking on a new role at the Ministry of Trade and Industry as Deputy Secretary for Industry from 1 March 2025. My sincere appreciation to all EDBians for being such remarkable teammates. They have been responsible to attract investments that grow the Singapore economy and create good job opportunities for Singaporeans. The answer you always get in EDB is generally ‘yes, of course’ and ‘how can I help?’ Singapore has so much to offer global businesses and talent, and it has been a privilege to work with corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors from all over the world and across different industries on win-win partnerships. It has been especially exciting to witness the strides we've made in collaborating in new growth areas, from the digital economy and AI to precision medicine and sustainability. Thank you to the companies and founders who continue to believe in Singapore! EDB's new Managing Director, from 1 March 2025, will be Mr Jermaine Loy. Jermaine is the Principal Private Secretary to Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and has been deeply involved in Singapore's efforts to build a resilient, open, and connected economy. He was formerly Senior Director of the Strategic Planning Division at the Ministry of National Development and has held various positions at the Health and Trade & Industry ministries. He currently serves on the Board of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. I look forward to welcoming Jermaine to EDB and wish him all the best in his new role!
