Adversity introduces a man to himself. As i continue on my Journey to the Boardroom, one lesson stayed with me Simple, but deeply powerful: Tact and sequencing. We were introduced to the D.A .B .D .A model. Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance. Not just as a theory of disappointment… but as a practical tool for leadership and self-awareness. Because the goal is not to avoid these stages It is to move through them with awareness… and reach acceptance faster. And almost immediately, I saw it play out in real time. In a project we are working on, my instinct was to share everything at once all the information, all the thinking, all the direction. But the lesson on tact and sequencing challenged me. 👉 Not everything needs to be said all at once. 👉 Not everything needs to be said exactly as it is. 👉 Leadership is not just what you say… it is when and how you say it. That shift changed how I approached the conversation. Because in the boardroom and in life timing, tone, and sequencing can preserve relationships, shape decisions, and influence outcomes. But the reflection went deeper. We were asked: How will you measure your life? How will you ensure happiness not just success? How will you protect what matters most your family, your integrity, your freedom? And the answer was confronting: Define the metrics by which your life will be judged… and live by them daily. As I continue this journey into governance, I am realizing: Boardrooms are not just about strategy and oversight. They are about people, judgment, restraint, and wisdom. And sometimes, what makes the difference is not brilliance but tact. Not speed but sequencing. Paul Senyomo Rtn. Adellah Agaba Sulaina Kajingo Kirabo, MBA. Eng.
