“Decisions made in the next Multiannual Financial Framework will shape Europe’s capacity to prevent non-communicable diseases for years to come.” Knut Inge Klepp, Scientific Coordinator of JA PreventNCD As discussions on the next EU budget continue, the JA PreventNCD Consortium has published a position paper calling for stronger EU investment in health promotion, non-communicable disease prevention and health equity. JA PreventNCD brings together 25 countries and more than 100 partners across Europe, giving a strong collective public health voice to this discussion. The position paper calls for: 🔹clear EU funding for health promotion and NCD prevention throughout the next MFF 🔹earmarked funding for health promotion in the European Competitiveness Fund 🔹a stronger prevention focus in National and Regional Partnership Plans 🔹health promotion, NCD prevention and health equity to be embedded in the Union Civil Protection Mechanism 🔹a standalone Health Cluster in Horizon Europe 🔹performance indicators that measure prevention, equity and long-term population health outcomes Prevention is an essential investment in Europe’s health, resilience, equity and long-term prosperity.
