The progress towards a scalable blood‑based test for Alzheimer’s disease represents a pivotal moment in early detection. IXICO is proud to be contributing to this progress as the imaging partner for the Global Alzheimer's Platform Foundation Bio‑Hermes‑002 study and as such IXICO is supporting imaging analysis for this landmark research conducted by medical research charity LifeArc and the UK Dementia Research Institute. This collaboration advances the collective goal of improving timely, accessible, and equitable diagnosis for people at risk of Alzheimer’s disease. At IXICO, our mission is to advance imaging science to accelerate the development of therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. Bio‑Hermes‑002 represents a landmark opportunity to do exactly that. This ambitious study is evaluating whether a simple, finger‑prick blood test can accurately detect key proteins associated with Alzheimer’s disease. If proven effective, this approach has the potential to transform the diagnostic pathway—expanding access, reducing costs, and enabling earlier identification of individuals who may benefit from emerging treatments. Bio‑Hermes‑002 is also the largest and most diverse international study of its kind. By intentionally recruiting volunteers from historically underrepresented communities, it will provide critical insights into whether blood‑based biomarkers perform consistently across different ethnicities and genetic backgrounds—an essential step toward equitable Alzheimer’s diagnosis and care.
