Remember the first time you played Super Mario Bros.? š No tutorial. No instructions. You saw a mysterious block, jumped, hit it, and a coin popped out. In just a few seconds, the game taught you something important: Try things. Good things happen. Most players never stop to think about why that moment works so well. The game gave you a clear signal, let you experiment safely, responded instantly, and rewarded your action. š That's the loop. And that's one of the reasons Super Mario Bros. still teaches designers valuable lessons about player experience. In this carousel, you'll see how a simple question block teaches players through action, feedback, and reward instead of lengthy explanations. š® Learn more about these principles in our new Game UX Design: The Ultimate Guide course with Celia Hodent, PhD, former Fortnite UX Director and author of The Gamer's Brain.
