As we get closer to the long-anticipated release of the new series of Clarkson's Farm, we’ve been reflecting on the work happening across our network to tackle the spread of bovine TB in cattle, which can often be devastating for agricultural businesses. Something Jeremy Clarkson highlights particularly well in the series after Diddly Squat Farm was impacted by an outbreak last year. Last month, Defra announced a £15.2m investment to expand badger vaccination across England. At IVC Evidensia, as part of a joint venture within the Farmcare Solutions group, we will be supporting the rollout of the government-funded programme - acting as national coordinator and delivery lead for the Badger Vaccination Field Force (BVFF). This initiative is a major step forward and a key part of a targeted control approach, supporting on-farm biosecurity and core cattle measures, while protecting badgers from infection and helping reduce the risk of widespread TB outbreaks. This year, the rollout will focus on bovine TB cluster areas, with further clusters added as the programme progresses. At the heart of this is closer collaboration with cattle keepers, as vaccination is only one part of the solution. By sharing knowledge across our network, we aim to work alongside farmers to support additional measures to manage TB risk, contributing to the Government’s long-term goal of achieving official TB-free status for England by 2038.
