I Built a Live Map That Shows Every Parking Ticket Being Written in My City Right Now Santa Cruz's citation portal has sequential IDs, no rate limiting, and no authentication. Change one digit and you get someone else's ticket. So I scraped all of them. 218,000 tickets. 8 enforcement devices. 7 years of data. Geocoded and plotted on a live map. Some findings: - One device writes 25% of all tickets and never stops. Definitely an automated license plate reader. - Friday afternoon is peak hunting season(not surprised) - There are streets where a ticket is basically guaranteed(Pacific Ave. ifykyk) No PII stored.
