As part of our 25-year journey, we continue reflecting on the milestones that shaped Ittiam’s evolution into a global media technology leader. 🎬 Episode 3: “Embracing Open Source and Online Media” focuses on a pivotal phase where Ittiam expanded beyond device multimedia into large-scale ecosystem collaborations across open source and streaming media. This chapter looks back at how Google selected Ittiam’s HEVC decoder for Android, sparking a multi-year engineering partnership between the two companies. It also explores our work with Google and Netflix on VP9, helping drive improvements in video delivery infrastructure and leading to Ittiam becoming the first non-founder promoter member of the Alliance for Open Media.
