The Executive Committee and members of the Ithacan Philanthropic Society (IPS), warmly congratulate IPS member and young leader Christina Damigos on her recent election as Co-President of the Melbourne University Greek Association (MUnGA), alongside Athanasios Pirpiris. Christina is the daughter of Dr. Maria Raftopoulos and Artemis Damigos, both alumni of the University of Melbourne. Athanasios is the son of Maria and Associate Professor Marinis Pirpiris, a member of the Greek Community of Melbourne Board. Christina, who is studying a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology said, “I’m proud to lead Australia’s first university-based Greek Association as a member of the IPS. It is a true honour to do my part for a society that has such a rich history shared across multiple generations, providing a space for Greek culture, language, and connection. A key focus of MUnGA is to promote Hellenic culture and activities for Hellenes and Philhellenes. As well as, upholding values of inclusion, respect, and filotimo. There is so much we can do to benefit our members and the Greek youth more broadly. I feel privileged to accept this role and hopefully advance it to the next level.” We extend our warm congratulations to Christina and Athanasios and wish them every success as outstanding young leaders of our Ithacan and wider Greek community. We look forward to supporting their endeavours and to celebrating their achievements, as well as exploring potential collaborations with the IPS. #MUnGA Christina Damigos Athanasios Pirpiris
