Congratulations to everyone in the BCS community represented in Computer Weekly’s UKtech50 2026! The list recognises some of the most influential people in UK technology, and this year includes many members, Fellows and leaders connected to BCS. Danielle George, CBE FBCS, Chief Scientific Adviser for National Security and Rob Thompson FBCS, Chief Digital, Data and Technology Officer, DHSE and NHS England, and are both in the top ten. It’s also notable that AI Minister Kanishka Narayan MP ranks at number 3. Also recognised are our President Sarah Winmill FRSA CITP CEng FBCS, Digital Function Leader, Royal Navy and Immediate Past President, Daljit Rehal CB FBCS, CDIO at HMRC. Alongside them are Sonia Patel FBCS, interim CTO at DSIT; Helen Wylie, DG and CDIO at DWP; Charlene Hunter MBE FBCS, CEO of Coding Black Females; Professor Dame Wendy Hall DistFBCS and Prof Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE, founder of Stemettes, who received the BCS Society Medal two years ago. Their recognition reflects the breadth of influence across the BCS community, from public service, national security and government digital leadership to AI, inclusion, education and the future of the profession.
