Many teachers and education professionals are being asked to prepare young people for an AI-enabled future without always having the confidence, training or support they need themselves. That’s why BCS has launched AI Confidence, a free professional development programme created with The Hg Foundation, Microsoft and Cognizant. AI Confidence is designed for anyone working in UK schools and colleges, with no prior experience of AI required. Through short, practical online modules, educators and education staff can build confidence in using AI safely, responsibly and effectively in real settings. Supporting the launch, Minister for Digital Government and Data Ian Murray, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology said: "Programmes like AI Confidence are helping teachers get to grips with this technology and understand how it can support, rather than replace, their professional expertise. "Giving people the skills to use AI confidently is central to our mission to upskill 10 million workers by 2030, and programmes like AI Confidence are exactly how we get there - practical, accessible training that meets people where they are." The programme will support areas including: ↳ getting started with AI in education ↳ exploring AI in the world of work ↳ supporting inclusion with AI ↳ helping school leaders approach AI safely and strategically Each module takes around 45 to 60 minutes and includes a digital badge on completion.
