AI assurance is becoming a profession. BCS is proud to lead the new AI Assurance Stakeholder Consortium, announced today by AI Minister Kanishka Narayan MP and convened by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. As AI becomes embedded across the economy and public services, trust cannot be left to chance. Organisations need confidence that AI systems are safe, reliable, secure and working as intended. The consortium will bring together expertise from across industry, academia, civil society, and professional bodies to build the foundations of a recognised AI assurance profession in the UK. Consortium Chair Emma McGuigan FBCS and Vice-chair Sharron Gunn MBCS are looking forward to working alongside a world-class group of core Consortium members. They are: BSI – The UK’s National Standards Body (NSB), UKAS, National Physical Laboratory (NPL), CQI | The Chartered Quality Institute, Ada Lovelace Institute, and Independent experts Adam Leon Smith and Dame Wendy Hall. We also welcome techUK as chair of the Industry Advisory Group. The Consortium’s work will support practical building blocks including delivering: ↳ a professional Code of Ethics and Conduct ↳ a skills and competencies framework ↳ greater clarity on what assurance providers need to assess AI systems effectively ↳ stronger visibility, credibility and quality across AI assurance services This matters because responsible AI adoption depends not only on technology, but on the people, standards and accountability behind it. #AIAssurance #ResponsibleAI #ArtificialIntelligence #DigitalTrust #ProfessionalStandards
