𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 In a 5-4 ruling today, the Court upheld state laws that allow a short grace period for mailed ballots postmarked by Election Day to arrive and still be counted 📬 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: 🪖 29 states + D.C. give military and overseas voters extra time for their ballots to arrive. This ruling keeps that protection. A soldier in Germany, a diplomat in Indonesia — their votes are still safe. 👵 Seniors, voters with disabilities, and rural Americans who rely on the mail-in voting keep their access too. 🏛️ States keep the power to choose how best to run their elections, without scrambling to rewrite the rules days before November. The Court got this one right — but protecting mail-in voting is an ongoing fight. There's already pressure in Congress to pass new laws that would override rulings like this one and eliminate mail ballot grace periods nationwide.
