In Episode 87 of the Exec Exchange, Dr. Piers Clark sits down with Dr. Jo Burgess, Chief Executive of the Tech Ascend Foundation, to talk about what it actually takes to move from pilot to procurement, and why the Trial Reservoirs Initiative is achieving a 72.5% trial success rate against an industry average of 20–25%. The model is straightforward: the Foundation provides repayable grants to technology developers to fund full-scale trials within utility assets. Financial risk sits with the Foundation. If the trial succeeds, the utility procures because they agreed to that, in writing, before the trial started. The Trial and Purchase Agreement moves all the hard thinking to the front, so success leads directly to a purchase order, not another round of discussion. Three case studies across three continents, non-invasive pipeline inspection in the Netherlands, solar desalination in UAE greenhouses, and bioaugmentation at a Canadian pulp mill, show the model works across geographies, asset types, and technology categories. 🎙️ Listen here: https://lnkd.in/dSfRRvzT 🙏 Thanks to our sponsors: Águas do Porto, EM, Gippsland Water, Goulburn Valley Water, NEOM, NWG (Northumbrian Water Group), Orange County Sanitation District, Severn Trent, TasWater #WaterInnovation #WaterSector #CleanTech
