Every packet your users send takes a physical path before any policy touches it. That path determines the experience. The shorter the path, the better the experience. But most SASE platforms backhaul traffic through their own points of presence before letting it reach the applications, which already sit inside AWS, Azure, and GCP. Island took a different path: → 3 hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) running simultaneously → 2 independent network stacks for high availability → 100+ Global PoPs across every region → Capacity that scales horizontally Idan Kestenboum, Network Product Manager at Island, wrote about why proximity to where SaaS lives matters more than the PoP count, and what that means for latency, reliability, and how SASE actually gets delivered.
