ISEG recently celebrated its two-year anniversary in Mumbai with friends, partners, supporters and well-wishers. It was a special evening filled with reflections from our Governing Council and senior government leaders who have been part of our journey so far. A panel discussion on “State Energy Transition: Public and Private Perspectives” brought together key leaders - Mr. Lokesh Chandra (CMD – Maharashtra State Discom), Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (CMD – Maharashtra State Transco), Dr. Anshu Bharadwaj (Programme Director - NITI Aayog) and Mr. Prashant Sinha (COO - Resonia). The highlight was the Maharashtra sub-national energy transition case study, showcasing the pathway to scale renewables from 13% today to 50% by 2030, backed by USD 40+ billion in planned investments across generation, transmission, and distribution for the state. Dr. Bharadwaj spoke about how this work led to the creation of the ASSET (Accelerating Sustainable State Energy Transition) platform, designed to support similar energy transition efforts across other states. Ms. Ashwini Bhide, ACS–CMO, Government of Maharashtra and Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, shared insights on the MMR Economic Masterplan: its current progress under the Hon’ble CM’s war-room and its role in shaping the region and state’s growth vision. The event closed with a keynote by Mr. B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog, who underscored that empowering states is central to India’s Viksit Bharat aspirations. He highlighted the NITI–ISEG collaboration on the Growth Hub initiative for Economic Master Planning of city-regions and the ASSET platform for state-level energy transitions. At ISEG, we thank all our supporters and team members. Here’s to continued collaboration and impact in driving sustainable economic growth.
