𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘃𝘀. Pediatric Miracle of the Century February 8, 5:30 PM: Emergency responders were called to a home in Gilbert, Arizona, where the toddler was found face down in a pool 6:20 PM: Although officers from the Gilbert Police Department, and a nurse observed apparent breathing and other signs of life, the attending physician at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center Dignity Health Arizona declared the patient deceased 11:52 PM: Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Medical Examiner Investigator arrived to pick up the body and discovered the child was breathing 12:56 AM: The toddler was MedEvac via Native Air Methods helicopter N551AM to Phoenix Children's PICU. A 9 min flight While he ultimately survived, he suffered brain damage and is expected to require lifelong care Stories like this remind us of the power of perseverance and dedicated responders 𝗔 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲, 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽 September 30, 2023 While playing with his brother, Eli went into a lake to retrieve a ball and did not resurface. After an estimated 32–35 minutes underwater, he was rescued, but the prolonged oxygen deprivation resulted in severe brain injury Through the extraordinary efforts of: Hatzoloh EMS of Rockland County Chaverim Of Rockland Ramapo Police Department Monsey Fire Department Fishel Litzman, David Strohli, Yaakov Goldberg, Tzvi Follman, Mark Schuster PA-C, and Josh (Shiya) Brach Thanks to the dedicated medical team at Bon Secours Charity Health System, Inc. Eli was rescued, resuscitated, and given the critical interventions that saved his life Following extensive treatment at Bon Secours Charity Health System, Inc. Westchester Medical Center Health Network, and Children's Specialized Hospital, Eli was miraculously discharged home to continue his recovery Through VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac Eli was transported to South Florida, where he received advanced rehabilitation therapies, including neurological, physical, occupational, and speech treatments. We are grateful to Hatzalah South Florida for their assistance.
