Today is International Day of Sport for Development & Peace – an annual celebration of the potential for sport to drive social change and community development, and to foster peace and mutual understanding. Earlier this year, Ireland’s International Sports Diplomacy strategy was launched, which encourages a more focused integration of sport in the promotion and advancement of Ireland’s interests and values, through partnerships, bilaterally and in multilateral fora in line with the Government’s Policy for International Development, A Better World.
