🌍 The Global EV Outlook 2026, a flagship report launched by the International Energy Agency (IEA), confirms a structural shift: electric mobility is now scaling globally and reshaping energy and transport systems. Morocco is represented in this edition through the contribution of Soukaina BOUDOUDOUH, Salma Boumhaouad from IRESEN and Abdelilah ROCHD, PhD from Green Energy Park (IRESEN / UM6P), who contributed as an expert with policy and market insights. This participation reflects IRESEN’s engagement in leading international energy platforms and its contribution to global energy transition knowledge. Key insights from the report include: 🚗 +20 million electric cars sold in 2025 (≈1 in 4 new vehicles globally) 🌏 Continued dominance of China with 60% of global sales, alongside accelerating growth in emerging markets ( ~80% growth in one year) 🔋 Strong progress in battery performance and cost reduction: EVs are already price-competitive with conventional cars. ⚡ Rapid development of ultra-fast charging infrastructure; bringing charging times closer to traditional refueling (~10 minutes). 🔌 Growing integration of EVs into power systems through smart charging and V2G, supporting grid stability and renewable integration.
