We are proud to recognize Ahmed Salem, a highly experienced banking and finance professional with strong expertise in accounting, financial reporting, internal audit, risk management, and business planning across Iraq’s banking sector. Currently, Ahmed Salem serves as Deputy Head of Finance at Ahli United Bank Group, where he is responsible for financial reporting, financial statements, infrastructure-related financial oversight, and strengthening financial governance and compliance across banking operations. In this role, he plays a key part in ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strong internal controls within the organization. Previously, he worked as a Financial Analyst at Standard Chartered Bank, where he supported financial analysis, reporting, business planning, and operational decision-making in a fast-paced banking environment. Prior to that, he held multiple progressive leadership roles at Iraqi Islamic Bank for Investment & Development, including Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Deputy Chief Risk Officer, Head of SME Division, Division Manager, and MC Settlement Officer, where he contributed to financial operations, risk management, SME credit operations, and banking process improvements. Earlier in his career, Ahmed worked as an Internal Auditor at Al Taif Group and Accountant roles at Madar Dijla, where he developed strong foundations in auditing, bookkeeping, and financial accounting in line with GAAP standards.
